Listening to Devon

Every year Devon County Council holds consultation meetings and online questionnaires. We ask what is important to you and your local community. The theme running through the responses was that we should protect the old, the young and the vulnerable.

The County has had to reduce expenditure over the last 8 years. However, we have increased the budget to support both children and adults living in Devon.

86% say care and support for the old and vulnerable is their top concern.

- This is why we are protecting spending on social care and invested an extra £19million in the budget in February.

77% want us to support local communities and help them to help themselves.

- That is why we created special funds for towns and parishes and continue to support the voluntary sector.

80% say Job opportunities and higher wages are a real priority.

- That is why we are investing in our roads and communication links and campaigning to attract more businesses to the county.

You said Reduce Administration and management costs.

- We have Restructured the County Council. We have less staff, fewer Managers, less property and have reduced the expenditure of the County by £267million

Please support us again. Vote Conservative on 4th May, giving us a mandate to continue this good work.
